Bombay IIT post-graduate D Udaya Kumar designed the symbol of Indian Currency, Rupees. Earlier "Rs" sign was used. Now Indian currency will have it's own symbol just like "$" for US. "It's a big statement on the Indian currency... The symbol would lend a distinctive character and identity to the currency and further highlight the strength and global face of the Indian economy," said Information and Broadcasting Minister of India.
This symbol is the blend of Roman "R" and Indian Devanagri "Ra".
